Lucifer

The AirBringer — the Radiant Fury
FATE UNKNOWN LIGHT & WINDWRATH & VENGEANCERADIANT FURY

Before the world named him Lucifer, he was Phosiel, Bearer of Harmony's Light, one of the brightest among the angelic host.

In the days before his fall, he guarded the floating keep of Aurelion, a silver bastion that drifted above the western battlefronts in Heraldon’s skies. There, during the Battle of Heaven’s Star, the demons of Entropy broke through the fortress defenses and butchered many of Phosiel’s own offspring, children of light born from his blood and his mortal bride. I believe the moment of her death stained him, becoming the coal beneath every act that followed. Phosiel fell from grace when his grief turned to unspeakable fury. He looked upon the corpses of his children and saw in every demon not merely an enemy, but the failure of Harmony’s creation.

The First to Fall After Asmodeus

Thus, he became the first to fall after Asmodeus, who offered him what Harmony could not, a war without restraint. Phosiel believed that the only mercy left for creation was the total annihilation of Entropy and every spawn it had vomited into the world. When his angelic brethren repelled his assault upon the Pool, Phosiel was exiled with the rest of his oath-bound host. Few physical marks reveal the devil he has become, as he retained much of his angelic form. Only the light within him hardened and burned colder. Among the Grand Dukes of Avernia he became Lucifer, the AirBringer, lord of Lightan, commander of the winds. He remained what he had always been: brave, brilliant, and unbearable for mortals to behold.

The Light That Enters Darkness

Lucifer is clever, subtle, and dangerously calculating when vengeance does not master him. His guile is sharpened by centuries of war, and his shapeshifting allows him to walk unseen among enemies, allies, and mortals alike. He may appear as a wounded pilgrim, a golden-eyed warrior, a child beneath ash, or an Andorian lord in silk garments. Few creatures understand infiltration as he does, for he was once the light that entered darkness to reveal it. Even now, he uses that gift to pass through courts, temples, and even demon strongholds. He speaks rarely, but his silence has enough weight to command armies.

Dawnreaver

In battle, Lucifer carries the blade called Dawnreaver, a weapon of condensed light said to have been forged on Zoodotis and stained afterward by the blood of demon lords. It is not merely a sword, but a line of sunrise turned into an edge, able to turn corruption to ash. Whether this is truth or fear made legend, I cannot say. I know only that demons hate Lucifer with such terror they seldom reserve for most devils. They know he does not bargain with them as Asmodeus might, nor toy with them as Graazt does. He hunts them down mercilessly.

A Beauty Like a Blade

His form still carries the memory of heaven more openly than any fallen angel I have studied. Lucifer stands tall and heavily armored. His plate is shaped like interlocking rays of blackened gold and white flame. His wings remain vast and almost angelic, though the tips are scorched by infernal shadow, and when they unfold the air chokes with smoke. His face is beautiful in the way a masterful blade may be, severe and luminous, with eyes like white stars seen through fog. Around him, the light gathers, shadows retreat, and even devils lower their gaze. Lucifer’s commanding presence is most evident in battle against demons with his followers drawn by religious fanaticism.

The Pain Beneath the Light

Yet beneath that brilliance lies pain deeper than the darkest sea trench. Lucifer has never forgiven demons for the slaughter of his bloodline, nor Harmony for permitting his wife’s sacrifice. But above all he pitied himself for becoming what he became in answer to it. His fury is not senseless, but it is bottomless. Mortals suffering beneath demons awakened in him something dangerously close to his former grace, and many villages, caravans, and doomed companies of heroes have survived because the AirBringer descended upon their attackers like burning judgment. But salvation from Lucifer is neither graceful nor free. He offers no comfort to the rescued. He destroys the threat, looks upon the survivors as if remembering something he lost, and vanishes before gratitude can be uttered.
