“Of all the planes surrounding our world, few are more often misunderstood than the realms of Light and Shadow. Many believe them to be opposites locked in eternal conflict, yet the truth is far more subtle. Both have existed since the earliest ages of creation and both are woven into the fabric of reality itself. Light illuminates, nurtures, and protects. Shadow conceals, rests, and hungers. Neither can exist without the other, just as day cannot exist without night.”
Of all the planes that surround our world, none are so misunderstood, or so inseparable, as the realms of Light and Shadow.
Both have endured since the earliest ages of creation, woven into the fabric of reality itself. Neither is wholly good nor wholly evil; neither can exist without the other.

The Plane of Shadow
The Plane of Shadow was born from tragedy. When Theril was destroyed during the ancient wars of the Eternals, his shadow did not perish alongside him. Instead it fell eternally upon the body of his mother, Thera, spreading across reality as a dark reflection of the Prime World.
What mortals perceive as shadows are but small fragments of this vast realm, a dimension that coexists with our own and touches every object, every hill, and every living soul. Its pathways can be entered through darkness itself, for every shadow cast beneath the light may become a doorway to another.
Yet the Plane of Shadow is no silent void. It teems with the restless dead, wraiths, specters, and other Fallen spirits harvested by demonic corruption and denied their rightful return to the Pool. Loremasters speak of Thanatos, Lord of the Fallen, who rules from its deepest reaches and commands legions of withered souls. Few who wander too deeply ever return unchanged, and the shadow shields the demons and undead from the light that would otherwise unmake them.
The Plane of Light
Bordering this realm lies its eternal counterpart. As Zoodotis casts his radiance across the Astral Sea, his rays form a vast ocean of brilliance stretching beyond mortal comprehension. Floating within it are continents of living light, where matter itself seems secondary to illumination.
It is said that Ahtides the Brilliant King guides many of the surviving Fey who escaped the destruction of their empire and found refuge within these blessed lands. There, beneath an everlasting day, Light Archons, Sun Devas, and creatures of pure radiance dwell in service to Harmony.
The greatest discovery of recent centuries revealed that the luminous currents crossing this realm eventually become the Silver Cords that bind mortal souls to the Pool, making the Plane of Light not merely a celestial refuge, but a fundamental part of the cycle of life itself.
Neither Is Perfection
Yet neither realm is perfect. Those who enter the Plane of Shadow risk being consumed by fear, despair, and memories of what was lost. Those who journey into the Plane of Light face a subtler danger: endless radiance, constant peace, and freedom from decay seem blessings, yet prolonged exposure slowly erodes ambition, struggle, and the very desires that define mortal existence.
Between these extremes lies Lycofos, the twilight frontier where light and shadow meet. Here celestial beings and shadow-born creatures have battled since the dawn of memory, neither side able to claim final victory.
“I have often reflected upon the lesson hidden within that eternal war. We exist between light and shadow, between order and chaos, between certainty and doubt. Perhaps that uncertainty is not a weakness, but our greatest gift.”
“Stand at the seam where Light meets Shadow, and you will find the choosing was always yours.”
