Starseeker
Seers of the Turning Heavens
“When night falls, most races seek shelter. We seek the sky.”
— Numanthia Thi’ellyn
Among the wandering caravans of Erenor, no calling is held in greater esteem than that of the Starseeker. To outsiders they appear as graceful swordsmen, guides, scouts, and guardians, yet their true duty reaches far beyond the defense of a single caravan. Every Starseeker is bound to one of the constellations beneath which they were born, believing that each star is one of Harmony's tears shed for a soul that once walked Thera. Through years of meditation beneath the open heavens, they empower this celestial bond until starlight itself answers their call. To an Eladrin, stars are not distant lights, but promises that no traveler is ever truly lost beneath the night.
Reading the Heavens
The path of a Starseeker begins long before he learns to draw a sword. As children they spend countless nights learning the movements of the heavens before they are permitted to devote themselves to their own constellation. They memorize every season, every celestial alignment, and every omen recorded since the First Caravan crossed Therasya. Only after proving that they can never lose their way beneath the stars are they entrusted with saber and shield, or the twin sabers that have become the mark of their order. They accompany caravans across endless plains, forgotten trails, and cursed frontiers, where no roads exist and no walls offer refuge. While others fear the coming of night, Starseekers welcome it, for beneath the stars their connection to Harmony burns brightest. Should clouds veil the heavens for many nights, the Starseekers become the caravan’s living constellation, preserving its course until the stars reveal themselves once more.
The Guides of the Lost
Their mastery of Star Magic allows them to weave starlight, celestial fire, and resonant song into graceful forms of battle and protection. Blades shimmer like falling constellations, armor glows with silver radiance, and the darkness itself retreats before their presence. Yet their greatest gift is neither martial nor arcane. Starseekers are the guides of the lost. They read the heavens as others read maps, sensing dangers hidden beyond the horizon, foreseeing shifts in fate through fleeting visions, and leading entire caravans through lands where even seasoned explorers would perish. It is said that a caravan following a true Starseeker never marches without purpose, even when its destination remains unknown to those who walk behind.
Darkness is merely the canvas upon which Harmony paints the heavens.
Beneath a Single Star
Among the Eladrin there is an old saying that every soul is born beneath a single star and shall one day return to its light. Perhaps for that reason no Starseeker truly fears darkness. Darkness is merely the canvas upon which Harmony paints the heavens. I have watched them stand alone upon the hills while nightfall consumed the horizon, their eyes fixed not upon the earth beneath their feet but upon a single star hidden beyond the clouds. By dawn the caravan would always be found exactly where it needed to be.
