Water Templar
Wardens of the Sacred Waters
“So long as one river runs clear, Dagon has not conquered Thera.”
— Andrian Sander, Bearer of the Tempest
Among the sacred militant orders of Therasya, few wage a war as endless as the Water Templars. They stand beside the clerics of Ydor in the eternal struggle against Dagon, Lord of the Deep, and the Iniatu demons that seek to corrupt every river, lake and spring with the touch of Entropy. To common folk they are guardians of wells, streams, dams, and coastlines. Sailors receive from them the last blessings before a voyage. But for the people of Evernight they are the armored wall between the sacred waters of Ydor and the horrors of the Undersea. They serve a single purpose: to ensure that the waters of the world remain a source of life rather than a dominion of Entropy.
Wherever Water Flows
The heart of their order lies at the Great Dam of Goldam in Andor, yet their true domain is wherever water flows. They travel across the surface realms and far beneath them, descending into caverns where underground rivers feed forgotten places and where Dagon’s servants gnaw endlessly at the sacred boundaries of Ydor. Many serve for years in Evernight beside the Deep Merrok, guarding the Iyelhar, Vaerden and Keldiran Dams on the luminous waters that shine beneath the world. There, battles are remembered by whether a spring remained clean or whether demons managed to devour the few forts standing against their swarm.
Where Others Drown
Unlike many knightly orders, Water Templars are trained to fight in places where ordinary warriors would die helpless: flooded tunnels, shipwrecked ruins, river crossings, marshlands, submerged temples, and the black trenches of the Undersea. Their heavy armor is blessed to resist crushing depths and demonic tides, their shields bear the signs of Ydor, and their weapons are consecrated against water demons, drowned dead, and corrupted beasts. They don’t just fight near water. Water is their ally, shield and mace. They endure the pressure of endless depths, adapt to currents, strike like waterfalls, and stand unmoved where others are swept away.
Water is their ally, shield and mace.
The Bearer of the Tempest
Their greatest legend remains the defense of Natr Sulenthir three centuries ago, when Andrian Sander, leader of the order, stood with two hundred Templars against the Iniatu Lord Ragalthon. Surrounded in the caverns of Evernight, with the corruption of the sea already spreading through the sacred waters, Andrian raised the Tempest, the holy sword of Ydor, and struck Ragalthon down before the tide could turn black. Since that day, every Water Templar follows in his footsteps, saving one sacred place at a time. A river saved, a shrine cleansed, a village spared from poisoned waters, these all are their triumphs.
To the people of Therasya, water is memory, travel, and above all life. The world cannot survive if its waters fall. The Water Templars preserve purity by resisting Entropy and raising a barrier against his poisonous corruption, lest the world would become a black, oozing grave. They are Harmony’s vigilance.
