Starfall is the Land of Broken Heaven, a realm born where angelic light, Fey defiance, and ancient disaster struck the northeastern crown of Therasya. Its capital, Elianor, stands upon and beneath the ruins of Elion, while the eastern fortress-city of Mor’in’thal, better known as Darklight, watches the Haze eruptions and the roads toward Helkor.
Few realms in Therasya are so mixed in blood, memory, and purpose. Humans, Eladrin, Fey, Thergen, gnomes, Angels and their descendants, psionic bloodlines, and even distrusted outsiders live beneath the same oath: Starfall is a land for all, born of loss and defended by defiance to Theril’s darkness. Its people do not pretend their land is safe. They endure because the stars once fell there, and their light never dies.
History & Founding
Before Starfall was a kingdom, the region was the battlefield of the world. Ancient memory places various Demon lords’ dominion here, amid marsh, beasts, and unspeaking horror, until the first-born Fey rose against them and broke their influence with moonlit bows. Their victory drew the Angels, and from that meeting came the age of Elion, Myre, Ivorhim, and the high celestial cities that once sailed above the land.
The timeline places Starfall’s first defining foundation in 1752 BS, when Elion, Akermon, and other angelic cloud cities established the holy protection of the realm. Aspiel was anointed Grand Protector of the clouds soon after, and Starfall became known as the eastern land beneath the angels. The fall of Elion later gave the realm its name, when the sky burned and the people whispered that the stars had fallen.

The Fall of Cord, the wars against Dagon, Helkorian invasions, necromancy, the disappearance of Aspiel and Lethanthe, and the swamping of half the realm reshaped Starfall into its present form. After the Years of Exodus, humans of Numahen’s blood, Thergen from Nur’Modan, Ghaele Eladrin, Fey military elites, gnomish guilds, and surviving Angels rebuilt the land as a covenant of many peoples. Starfall was revived before the present age, assisted by Darklight forces that had resisted demonic influence through their starlight foundations.
Government & Succession
Starfall is not ruled by a crown but by circles of representation, memory, and necessity. The highest authority is the Conclave of Luminaries, a twenty-one-seat council presided over by the Gazer of Starfall. The current Gazer is Ludaen Sontar II, an Eladrin sage and former priest of Thera whose authority rests on wisdom, omen-reading, and the trust of a realm that has survived too many disasters to worship bloodline alone.
The Conclave includes the High Marshal, the Luminaries of the Guilds, the Archmage of the Oculus, the Envoy of the South, the Keeper of Truth, and rotating provincial seats from the major cities. Smaller councils answer to guilds, temples, military commands, and local settlements. Debate is constant, sometimes fierce, yet the old saying of Valond remains the heart of the nation: this is a Land for All.
Succession therefore follows consensus more than inheritance. A new Gazer must be accepted by council, temple, guild, and the watchers of the Haze, because no single faction can safely rule Starfall alone. Rumors persist that the hidden Caste of Mind influences parts of the Conclave, and some claim that at times even the Gazer has not been entirely free of psionic control.
Society & Culture
Starfall is a multiracial realm where identity is shaped less by ancestry than by shared survival. Humans, Fey, Eladrin, Thergen, gnomes, angelic bloodlines, and stranger descendants live beside one another in a society that prizes life, trade, craft, and watchfulness. The people greet one another with the blessing “Light upon you,” a phrase that is both courtesy and remembrance of the stars that fell.
Daily life is marked by rivers, swamps, guild halls, ruins, and the strange beauty of celestial fragments suspended above the land. Children learn letters by tracing constellations in sand, and every citizen is expected to know at least one trade and one verse of history. To forget is considered a moral failure, for Starfall believes that memory is the first defense against corruption.
Memory is the first defense against corruption.
Its customs are communal and solemn without being joyless. Feasts are held in circles, music often imitates falling stars, and the Festival of Shards forgives debts while mirrored lanterns reflect meteor rain across the night. The dead are not buried in the swamp-tainted earth. Their ashes are woven into starlight glass and hung from towers so that dawn may scatter them over the streets.
Faith
Starfall’s faith is plural but disciplined. Maat holds the strongest public temples, for truth is treated not as an abstract virtue but as the force that keeps a versatile society from dissolving into suspicion. The law of the Three Mirrors: word, deed, and reflection reveals this devotion, and the Keeper of Truth sits among the highest offices of the realm.
Alke is revered deeply among soldiers, guards, adventurers, blacksmiths, and survivors. Her creed teaches that battle is not rage, but the endurance of light within darkness, and Starfallen warriors often strike their chest twice before danger: once for remembrance, twice for resolve. Thera, Zoodotis, and Lahesis are also honored, especially by healers, sun-priests, fate-seekers, and those who still look to the old angelic traditions.
The angelic legacy remains powerful. Aspiel’s name is tied to the fallen temples, the lost guardian orders, the Letharion groves, and the prophecy of his return. Darklight preserves liturgies of dusk and starlight, while shrines in Elianor still remember Elion, Myre, Ivorhim, and the angels who chose to remain after the heavens broke.
Military
Starfall’s armies reflect the realm itself: mixed, specialized, and stubborn beyond reason. The High Marshal commands the Legion of the Veil, soldiers trained to fight near the Haze and resist its corruptive aura. Darklight maintains guardian companies and Angel Justicators along the eastern approaches, while frontier villages such as Barrowfen rely on hardened militias, Bog Spears, rangers, and demon-tested veterans.
The realm’s strongest formations are built from many traditions. Starbow archers and Fey bowmen guard the marches. Ranuyl’s riders preserve the mounted legacy of the White Caravan and Erenorian horse-masters. The Thergen Stoneguard defend the lower city and tunnels of Elianor while the Wardens of the Upper Spire carry the discipline of fading angelic bloodlines. Oculists, Haze Masters, and secret psionicists provide supernatural support where ordinary steel fails.
Starfall does not field the largest army in Therasya, but it fields one of the most experienced defensive systems. Its soldiers know undead, Helkorian raiders, swamp horrors, demons, nightmare entities, and Haze-warped beasts as practical realities rather than legends. In battle they sing hymns to the fallen angels whose ruins they guard.
Economy & Trade
Starfall’s economy is shaped by survival, guild cooperation, and the strange wealth of ruined heavens. Elianor trades in crystal, carved stone, alchemical light, relic-craft, Haze scholarship, gnomish engineering, Thergen metalwork, star-script tablets, and the work of many guilds. Its currency, the Lumens, is minted in celestial-named alloys with gemstone cores that may glow faintly after Haze exposure.
The southern plains provide grain, horses, and safer routes toward Erenor and the inner kingdoms. The northern and eastern lands are harder, but they produce rare components, monster parts, swamp herbs, meteor glass, relic fragments, and specialized services valued by adventurers and scholars. Darklight is less a market city than a bastion, but its garrisons, temples, and underground districts require constant supply and support.
Trade is protected by alliances as much as by roads. Starfall depends on Andorian finance, Kinetican guildcraft, Dymarthian military friendship, Erenorian riders, Fey reinforcements, and Thergen stonework. In exchange, it holds the frontier and absorbs dangers that might otherwise roll south and west.
Foreign Relations
Starfall is one of the strongest symbolic members of the southern Alliance because it proves that many people can share one law without becoming one bloodline. Its closest practical allies are Andor, Dymarth, Erenor, Kinetica, Everday, the Thergen Empire, Cloudkeep, Darklight, and Avaton, while distant relations are kept with Lydoria. Delegations from these realms still attend rites of remembrance in the marshlands, honoring the dead of old campaigns against Helkor and Entropy.
Relations with Everday and the Fey remain important, as Fey archers and reinforcements have long served in Starfall and along the swamp boundaries. The Thergen are essential to Elianor’s lower city and the Tree of Life monument, while gnomish Airguilds and engineers preserve several wonders that would otherwise have collapsed. Dymarth, Erenor, and Andor remain vital military partners against the eastern threats.
Starfall’s enemies are old and numerous. Helkor is the immediate mortal threat, with raiders, necromancers, janissaries, undead remnants, and border cults still testing the marches. Othmog and the demon lords remain existential enemies, while Dagon, Morgenydon, and nightmare powers all have active plots tied to Starfall’s past. The realm survives by assuming that every ruin may still be watched.
