Theril

Thera and Zoodotis's son, Theril, is perhaps the most tragic being in all creation.

Once a celestial guardian, he is now a ruin hung in the sky, and a warning to every soul that looks up at night.

Nature & Domain

His ruined body hangs forever above the world as the Moon, feasting on the light of his father Zoodotis and casting his shadow across the body of his mother, Thera. What mortals name the devouring moon is no symbol but the corpse of a god, turning slowly overhead.

The Shattering

Theril was once a celestial guardian who soothed his mother’s wounds. He became shattered during the ancient catastrophes that scarred the early Spires, broken not by any enemy he could face, but by the war between Harmony and Entropy that no being, divine or mortal, stands wholly outside.

Shadow & the Fallen

From the shadow he casts emerged the Plane of Shadow, a dark reflection of the living world; and among the ruins of his surface gathered the restless Fallen, souls cut loose from the cycle, denied their return to the Pool. Relationships

He is the third of the First Family, born of Thera and Zoodotis — the son who once eased his mother’s pain, and whose fall now lies eternally upon her. There is no crueller knot in all the myths of the Eternals.

Warning & Sorrow

To mortals, Theril is both warning and sorrow: proof that even divine beings may be broken by the endless war between Harmony and Entropy. Those who despair look up and see themselves; those who hope look up and resolve that his fate will not be theirs.
